Sewing can be my escape, my therapy from a busy household, but life with four teens has turned into a love for reselling vintage items, including sewing patterns.

Not much sewing going on here, but I have been cruising the internet more than usual and was not feeling well today. I came across a post on a blog today (Gertie) about whether vintage clothes are oppressive, going backwards. I do not think this at all, I think it is individuality, flattering and enhancing the feminine look, wishing for simpler life and times, and probably other ideas out there. I also believe men and women are different, but capable of being equals in various ways, but there are things that are inherently male and female. Different but equal. Simplicity 8541, yr 1969, size 18, B40, W31, H42 - button trimmed dress with back zipper, shaped bias roll collar and a pleat simulating an opening, short sleeves or sleeveless. Post a comment and I will draw this weekend. And to last weeks', now I have your info & they will go out tomorrow. At this rate, I may thin my stash quicker than I thought. Once my kids go back to school, I may go through the fabric stash and make little scrap bags for quilting scraps for giveaways. On the home sewing front, I was able to get one top put together for daughter and the second is also sewn together. Both need bias tape finishing (handwork) which can be done in the evening in front of the TV. Maybe tomorrow I will get the remaining pants cut out, bringing her total to a possible 5 pairs of capri/shorts for school...
On the anniversary of this date, recalling the last 7 years... 2001 - watched on TV, saw the 2nd tower fall on the news while holding my oldest daughter (we were in Houston then) 2002 - pregnant for the first time, not knowing we would lose him prematurely in 5 days 2003 - sitting in a hospital, trying not to have Andrew prematurely, watching the broadcasts; he was born the next day 2 months early 2004 - pregnant with Philip 2005 - living in a new town with all of these babies & DH 2006 - just found out I was expecting and miscarried a few weeks later 2007 - pregnant with Hayley today - watching a hurricane's status and reading the 9/11 recollections My mother thinks hurricane Carla, which was 1961, passed through the same area (freeport area) on/about Sept 11. She can't remember the exact date. September is not my favorite month, but we should not forget 9/11.
