Friday Free Pattern

Free pattern, stash busting, a 1967 (good year) McCall, #8865, size 18, bust 38, a great little A line dress with an unusual neckline. Sort of funnelled with a button near the neck to appear like the center panel is buttoned down at the neck. Kind of looks like some of the Vogues from recent issues.

Enter your name by posting a comment (make sure there is an email or blog link) about how you would make this dress and post a comment on your blog about the giveaway. I will draw and post by Monday morning.

I am finishing 2 tops for me right now, had some dress disappointments and also working on other items. I will try to post one top later as I plan on using it tonight.

Oh what a cute dress and just my size too. I like the views with the sleeves. I probably would make the 3/4 sleeve one, but perhaps make the sleeves long, and use a wool crepe. I'm not sure what material would lend itself to the fancy button closure in the front, so the short sleeve top might need some thought. kelsokraft@yahoo.com

What a lovely pattern. Lord knows I have enough patterns, but not with that detail. Gorgeous. Fingers crossed.

I like this a lot! So simple, but the mandarin collar and the button on the front make it unique. I would probably make the short sleeved version out of some multi-colored boucle suiting I just bought at Fabric.com (this is it: http://tinyurl.com/nqqe9z ) and use a dome shaped brass colored shank button I have been looking for a project to include on. Or, maybe a solid dark orange fabric, probably cotton blend, so I could use a vintage glass button I bought a while back that is clear and orange and beige.

Oh, neat! I don't have a proper fabric for that lying around, but I could tell you my intent: Either a solid or a print that's very close to being solid. That way I could draw all the attention up to the faaaabulous button I would put at the top: Preferably something big and colorful and pretty.

I'd do a sleeveless right away as something to wear for the summer... I'm thinking light green. I'm not sure why, but light green is just poking me in the head.

And if that goes well I think I'd plan the 3/4 sleeve version in gray. (I've been in a gray phase... for about two years. :D ) Gray with a yellow and/or orange button.

I guess that's about all I have to say.
